'Conference Calls Made Easy'™
(Worth £67)
Conference calls by telephone are a key tool for project people. With teams distributed across the country and all around the world, it's no longer feasible to meet face to face all the time. They offer the promise of quick and easy meetings, freeing up people from the time and expense of travel, but...
Far from being the solution to the problem, conference calls have become a drain on time and resources. People tell me:
- 'No-one answers when I ask a question.'
- The calls start late and go on far too long.
- 'Often we can hear people typing their e-mails, sometimes even snoring!'
- Preparation just doesn't get done.
- 'I don't know who else is on the call or even what they look like!'
- Actions just don't get done, even when written up.
They can be frustrating, energy-draining and swallow up evenings as well as working days.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
I'm Dr Penny Pullan, and since 2000, I've used telephone conferences as my key tool to run global projects. I've had directors of multinationals and government ministers on my calls. For a global consumer goods company, I drew up guidelines for making remote projects work. I've even joined in international research to develop my skills.
Over the years, all of this has built up into a unique system that makes conference calls work, which I share in my Master Classes series.
In the Master Classes, we'll cover how to take the frustration out of telephone conferences and make them really productive. We'll cover my entire system - laying out exactly what you can do before, during and after each call to maximise your success. We'll show which technology is going to work for you.
Here are just a few of the strategies I'll reveal:
- The six steps to the best prepared conference calls.
- The three best ways to engage people so they'll keep focused on your call rather than their e-mail.
- How to keep your calls short and productive.
- How to make it much more likely that actions get done.
- The three crucial behaviours that can make, or break, your call
- How to make your conference call available after the event, to anyone you choose.
But I don’t expect you to take my word for it. I’d like to give you the opportunity to try the first in the series for yourself, at absolutely no risk and no cost.
Here are just a few of the comments that people sent me immediately after the call:
I can identify with almost every one of the frustrations on your mind map! These, too, were backed up from comments from other participants. I was impressed by the way you managed the meeting, such as setting expectations, keeping to time, indicating when people should listen and when they could speak.
Paul Banks, Project Manager, Technology Multinational
That was great!
I really liked the twelve crucial questions worksheet. Going over conference calls that I've had in the past, and applying these twelve questions brought a deeper, analytical understanding of why things didn't work, or how things could have been better.
Linda Spindley
Thank you again for leading a stimulating and informative seminar.... In the last three months I have experienced almost all of these issues.
Martin Harnor
Thank you for the TC, I really enjoyed it ... More than anything I appreciated the reassurance that it's not just me that struggles with these things sometimes.
Sarah Gordon, Process Implementation Scientist, FMCG Multinational
